In the previous post I mentioned Project 13 for the first time. This should be a fun exercise, and yet I seem to be hitting brick walls. The first story "The 13th Camera" just felt like it didn't work. The second story "The No.13 to Peckham" had me excited but doubts started to creep up on me regarding this one too.
This doesn't normally happen to me. I normally have a basic idea that stays at that stage or it all kicks off and gets finished. I'm beginning to think that the No.13 is a little too contrived, a little too well thought out for its own good.
Out of interest I decided to go back and read 'Camera' its been sitting in a drawer for a week totally neglected, and all alone. I read the story and apart from approximately 1 page of prose, which I've subsequently edited out, I found myself enjoying the read. So why, oh why, did I hate it last week.
So now I'm back on the first story: The 13th Camera. And while I was at that awful stage of hating both stories I came up with a third, and a fourth idea, and like a fool I started writing them too. Thankfully, I've put the brakes on. I'm sticking with the first story, and I'm going to finish it.
Once finished I'll send it to Nick and his co-editor Francesca. While I'm waiting for a response I'll finish stories three and four. I think that 'The Number 13 to Peckham' is probably dead, but who knows. Come next week I might think it's a work of genius.
Bye I'm off to write some more
